Parental Contributions

The Parental Contribution scheme was introduced by The Langdon Foundation (Foundation) in 2006 when people move from Langdon College to Langdon Community; and applies to anyone who comes into Langdon Community irrespective of route.

Foundation provides accommodation in the heart of the Jewish community close to shops, transport, synagogues and entertainment facilities. These are homes that enable Langdon residents to live as independently as they are able.

A key element of the work of Foundation is the provision of suitable housing owned by Foundation for those students who graduate from Langdon College and who choose to live away from the family home.

The ethos behind Parental Contributions is simple. Foundation wishes to provide life time homes for all graduates of Langdon College, regardless of their financial status, who make the choice to continue to live with us. We do not want to have to choose who we can afford to provide for and who we cannot. However, as a charity, Foundation cannot raise sufficient funds to cover the full cost of providing the high level and standard of accommodation required. In addition, some of our donors have stipulated that they are not willing to fund the purchase of homes for young people whose families can afford to do this.

We therefore need the help of those families who can afford to support their sons/daughters to cover this shortfall and this is known as the Parental Contribution. Foundation remains equally committed to its fundraising effort so that in conjunction with the Parental Contribution scheme, we can continue to make suitable housing available to all our people who do not have families that can make a Parental Contribution.
